So I just got a new (to me) fault code P1405. I believe that's for the Differential sensor on the EGR. I figured it's either the sensor itself (it's 20 years old) or the hoses. Does anyone have a different experience?

Hoses are EXACTLY what I need. One of them completely deteriorated and fell apart - that's what is giving me the fault code. Thanx!!!That's a good place to start anyway. At that age they're due ! I'd do the DPFE sensor and the hoses at the same time. They are specific high temp hoses, not just common fuel line.
