Hello everyone, I'm having problems with the Expy. Not sure what areas to look at.
Description :
At times usually cold day or engine, it stutters not a transmission shudder but more of a running out of fuel hesitation and only upon acceleration. The problem appears to diminish after it has warmed up. It has fuel and less than 1 year ago I had the Fuel pump unit replaced. at 110K the plugs were replaced with new boots. All the maintenance has been done regularly that I can think of. It has no engine codes, original O2's sensors are still in place but don't know if this is regular service.
I only have 136,000, 4.6L, auto.
Perhaps some of you have had a similar problem and found solutions, that I may be overlooking.
Thanks for any help and suggestions.

There are a lot of "could be's" to what is causing your problem.
What is in your tool box as far as tools go - basic -middle of the road - entry level tech or GOD of the Chrome Plated TOOLS?

What year expy are we dealing with?

1st gen 4.6 I would clean out the exhaust ports thru the throttle body. With that kind of mileage I bet they are clogged

The mileage seems to be very poor in town 9 mpg ; I recall about 12 from several months ago. I have the tools and a slightly older scanner. A
co-worker of mine stated the Coil plugs should be replaced at an interval of 7 years, this seemed a little odd to me. Although I don't know for sure.
These are the originals 1 was replaced under warranty in 2002 but I don't remember which one.
The cleaning of the throttle body, I will check in the morning.
The mileage I have is 136,000, she's a little old but we don't plan on parting my other car is far more problematic and temperamental.
I welcome any comments, thanks.

You will need to remove the throttle body in order to do a proper cleaning of the exhaust ports. Should only require 2 gaskets and a can of throttle body cleaner. There are some good videos on youtube about this.

By exhaust ports, I think roxy is saying the EGR valve ports in the intake manifold. They are notorious for clogging up on these motors.

NO I am refering to the exhaust ports that go thru the throttle body when you remove the EGR VALVE from the throttle body you will see where they are

This is the second time that the OP has been asked the model year of his Expedition.

I do not think that he knows.

Hi all, sorry for the late reply. I thought I posted the year in my 2nd response, it happens to be a 2000.
In any case I took it into the shop and explained what I wanted cleaned, they asked why; and I just explained the symptoms. It took a whole day but im very pleased with results. I don't think the price was bad 200$. It seems so free reeving and quick to respond throttle input also best of all it does not stall. Today was a cold wet morning and it didn't sputter or otherwise fell like a stall was about to happen.
Thanks for the direction guys.
