just thought i would chime in for the not gonna put a cummins in a ford. the cummins engine was designed by ford and originally owned by ford they designed the motor for boats. dodge decided they wanted to use the motors in their trucks and started buying them from cummins which in sense is still partially owned by ford. ford still owns a percentage of cummins just cant remember what that percentage is but when gm was being bought by the government and dodge chrysler sold out to fiat ford sold a good chunk of cummins to save their a$$. we all know (or should) that chevy does not own duramax dodge does not own cummins and ford untill recently did not own powerstroke. so technically speaking cummins rightful place should be in a ford. and yes you heard me right dodge sold out to Fiat. you know the company doin all those commercials about the new fiat 500 tiny car. but yes a ford designer did do the original designs on the cummins just a fyi

Actually Powerstroke has always been a trademarked name by Ford. Navistar just made the engine.

Used to cater to that "Cummins is a Ferd motor and Dodge is stealing it" ... But.. then I read on ol' Clessie.. and his Indy success and Failure.. and I became a fan of the Cummins.. Ferd had nothing to do with that. Ferd is the GOd father of the JK. One of the designs for the WIllys style WWII rig was a Ford Design.. GPW I believe was the desig.. Readd sumptin the other day that said it was a Willys drivetrain witht he Ford sheetmetal that was selected, But I can't disprove or prove that.

Ironically, every time in this post.. I have had to untype "********" to make it read Cummins... WIll expound tomorrow, but if chips fall into place, I will have to retraint he iPhone as well. it will auto correct cummins to ********... LOL

And if Ford had really wanted to blow the pickup market away, they would have put their 6.6 I-6 diesel in the pickup. Displacement wise, .7 cubes larger, horse wise detuned in a medium duty app, its 190/500. which is a period correct number for the first gens 190/4xx ft lbs of torque as a comparison. Volumetrically, it is slightly larger than a 6 bt, but we are talking an inch or two one way and inch the other.

Secondly, had they wanted to maintain with the international theme, the DT360 which is also a 5.9 litre I-6 made by CornBinder, is a dead ringer for the 6bt in size as well.
ANd that has been transplanted successfully into pickups.

Saving you the google time....

Grab a large bottle or a whole sixer... its a longthread.

Well... Kinda does say Isuzu all over it though.. Have heard 'Suzie and have heard just a 'Suzie design.

Incomplete thoughts typed WILL be my death.

Well, it Kinda does have Isuzu written all over it. Just like a Ferd IDI has "IH/Navistar" written all over it.

Ferds IS an IH with that writing, does 2+2=4 on the GM side? Dunno. Have heard it IS a Suzie, and have heard they only designed it... But where it has there "tramp stamp" all over the engine spec sticker, my money is on it being all 'Suzie.
