Yes. That's the one. Unfortunately they don't offer an in-cab controller anymore. I have had it a while now. I like it a lot, especially when we're all loaded up for our trips to ME. It also makes the Expy look like an SUV rather than a station wagon.
Oh and +1 for Jessica Biel!![]()
GaryH2,
Do you find the ride to be harsh? The folks at 4WP said they've had lots of complaints about that. There wasn't any Expedition specific, just general complaints.
Thanks!
Cool, thank you. I dont mind a truck ride at all. If feels like a marshmallow now anyway. You think I could clear 35s with the little bit of lift it provides?
To tell if you have air or regular springs look behind the rear wheels and the front wheels and you you either see coil springs and shocks or the black airbags of the air suspension. If you have air you will also have an air compressor and you will hear that run from time to time. I had a compressor go bad and the front shocks leaked down and it was very bouncy, like driving on basket balls if you just have normal coil springs and shocks your shocks could be worn out.Hey guys i need some help! Sorry to bring up this 4 year old thread lol. In Oct '16 I purchased a 2011 Expedition Limited with 130k. Not sure if i just didnt notice it then or it got worse in the last couple months but i cant take it anymore! Bouncing like crazy over any little bump. Honestly, im not enough of a car guy to know if it has air suspension or not..how can i tell? And if anyone can post a link to exactly what i need to order to bring to my mechanic i would really appreciate it. thanks in advance.

To test coil springs and shocks push the rear bumper up and down a couple of times and stop the truck should go down and back up and stop. If it continues to go up and down a couple of times the shocks are shot.
If you have air suspension and it has leaked down it will look low in the front or back or both.
Thanks, I really like it. It's my first new Expedition.Looks like i have springs and shocks. I did what you said and it kept bouncing up and down for a few seconds. So i need to replace the springs and shocks? Your truck is absolutely gorgeous BTW and thank you for the reply.
also, can you recommend any specific set-up? i saw someone in this thread recommended the Monroe Kit and someone else said Bilstein HD

When that happens that normally means that the shocks have failed. I don't know if the Expedition has separate shocks and springs or complete units like struts. My previous Expedition had air suspension and the new one has shocks/springs but I don't know how they replace them.
I would probably go with OEM quality if they lasted this long, I'd say they are good enough. Most of the guys want to improve handling or load carrying capability so they experiment with different things. It just depends on what you want.
Hope it helps.appreciate your help!
What's the cheapest trustworthy & decent spring&strut assembly kit?
Ride quality is very subjective. I've used Monroe, bilsteins, on my 2000, and didn't like the ride. I went with original ford shocks front and rear, and got the oem ride back. It's more money but it gives you the ride back, that you and all of us buy these SUVs for. I also installed new rear springs as well. I would install new torsional bars in the front, but they can't be found. Just what worked for me. Hope that helps.

Eh? We buy these for ride???
Daaang maybe i should head over to a Ford dealer and testdrive a fresh one lol. Cause I bought the beast for the ROOM and the reputation for dependability of Ford Fseries based trucks since expedition is pretty much an F150 no-bed-triple-cab
The first one I bought was the short wheel base, the next one was the EL that extra 14" makes a big difference. Most of the time I just have to put the third row down and have plenty of room. Every once in a while i'll put the second row down and cover the gaps.Yep. Bought mine to haul my hobby stuff around. I added a lift and LT tires to make it ride more like a truck and less like grandma's Lincoln. I wish I would've gone with an EL for the extra room
