Few questions from a new member

Hello everyone. I'm just trying to.get some info on first gen expeditions. I'm currently in the market for a off road only rig. First question I'm seeing tons of 99 expeditions for dirt cheap. Is there a problem with the 99's. Mechanically what would you say the weak parts of the first gens are? Does anyone have any off road experience with them? ThIs is going to be a 100% off road vehicle so not worried about creature comforts or options just mechanical issues and 4x4 operation. Thank you. Any help would be appreciated

Nothing wrong with the 99 model year, I use mine on weekends for off road driving my only grip is gearing I don't want to spend money for lower gears but if I keep it I will have to hold out for one with 3.73 gearing and you'll be happier.

I take my 98 off-road all the time all I pretty much use it for currently is just an Off-road toy.
