Has anyone noticed how floppy the hood seems when driving at highway speeds? It even looked like the hood had popped but I checked it and it's closed properly.

My 2003 has rattled, made noise, since new. Never noticed it moving though. My 2014 is more buttoned down.

How fast are we talking? I know my Mustang moves a lot near 100 mph, but not at legal speed limit.

65-85 mph. Of course it increases with speed but it flutters noticably, to the point where you second guess yourself whether or not the hood is latched. Seems like the hood needs stronger cross members or something.

Mine does it at pretty normal highway cruising speeds too (70-80). My wife’s pathfinder does the same thing. And yes, Ive gotten out to check to make sure it’s latched too.

I haven’t noticed this at all... I have some interstate driving coming up so I’ll be on the lookout.

I've experienced the same and also felt the need to check the hood. When I've passed semi trucks head-on and we're each going 80 on a 2-lane West Texas highway it's looked like the hood was about to jump off the truck. Yet, it seems it remains secure. In those situations I try to drift just a bit farther away toward the shoulder. It's distracting, but I'm learning to literally overlook it.

seems to be a common issue with light hoods

If you want to video something exciting wait for a breezy day with the wind coming from left to right on a single lane and wait for a truck to pass. You'll think the hood is going to crease.

Exactly. I did about 100 miles like this in February and it was really something to behold.

I only notice some movement if there is a really strong headwind or crosswind. Other than that, it doesn't move.

I noticed on the explorer platinum I traded in for the expy, and on the expy as well. Definitely needs more stiffeners IMO, but I don't stress about it.

This is getting to be common on a lot of newer vehicles. With the needed weight savings the panels are getting thinner and less supports under the panels. I noticed it on the expedition. Keeps the govt happy I guess, we all have to stop contributing to global warming with thinner hoods. Not sure it matters since the world ends in 12 years...

My '15 Mustang hood used to move a lot until I adjusted the 2 rubber standoffs at the front corners. They keep the hood pressed tightly against the latch. No idea if the gen4 Exp is set up that way but mquick5 might benefit from this. The rubber standoffs look solid but they are actually spiral cut and thread in and out. Took me a few tries to get a perfect balance between the hood latching easily and no flutter. This is a fit and finish item they forgot about, at least on my 50yr Mustang.

That might be happening too but the thin hood also ripples/waves in the wind.

My JK does what you mentioned on your mustang, what I have seen on the expedition is the thin sheet metal rippling.

I have this same issue on my 2019 Expy. When you are going down the interstate at 70 mph the hood bounces up and down.

So I decided to pull the insulation off from under the bottom side of the hood and noticed that the glue that holds the outer hood shell and the inner structure together has come loose or separated.

Has anyone seen this issue also and glued it back and if so what did you use?

Was it still under warranty? That's a factory defect. For long term effectiveness, you don't want to just use any plain old glue. That stuff is an expanding mastic made specifically for aluminum (among other materials).
