gettong into the stock amp

in a repair manual i have it says in order to get to the stock amp i need to remove my center console...i havent really looked into it yet i was wondering if anyone here has done it ???
and if so how dificult was it??
its a 97 xlt

on my '99, removing the console is cake. there are 4 screws holding the lid on---remove them. remove the 2 screws that hold the back top part of the console, and pop the bottom clips off.

there are (i think) 2 screws, maybe 4 holding the "tray" that goes in the front. 1 (or 2?) are under the rubber mat in the bottom of the tray.


i don't know how far you need to disassemble it, but it is pretty simple. just keep track of where the screws go, and you'll be fine. also, if something isn't screwed, it has clips holding it.
