Being that the 3" PVC is through the fender....would it make and improvement on performance if I ran a duct down from that hole and places a custom made aluminum scoop behind the the plastic part of the bumper...with some holes drilled through to give it a ram air effect? More air better or not....they did this on the Mustang Police cars and drilled from the factory in the lower right side bumper cover. Thoughts? :hmm:

could see some improvement because its getting colder air... would be cool to record the intake air temp on the edge before and after and compare to see if the air is colder... with my K&N FIPK the temp at idle is higher than outside air but while driving it is fairly close to outside air....

I have a K&N filter in the stock housing with the mod...I will hook up the Edge and let you know....I know the colder air is better...I just didnt know if the MAF would recalculate for more air....also was thinking of going to a 75mm throttle body...

hmmm... didnt think bout this. dont know you could hook it up with out taking off the whole fender but would be cool to see. and put the intake at that point low to the ground and forward like in the bumper. im gonna do this now. being cali you have to hide EVERYTHING you do to add performance.

How Funny...I had the dealer run my vin and gave me a print out on the truck when it was built and all the options and order codes..it was built here in Wayne Michigan and shipped to California to the city of Redwood which is where I got and had it shipped back to Michigan...has not seen a winter yet and wont...October third moving to Florida...as far as the modification I think it can be done just taking the inner fender well down....Just kinda scoped it out a bit...

I've been thinking of the same thing. was kinda thinking that it wouldnt be that hard and if you got some aluminum piping it shouldnt be to hard to bend if need be. now that im not headed off to afgan for another year i might just try and make something of the sort.

i got a buddy heading over there in a few weeks. doing some last min training in the states then shipping out. but just get some exhaust tubing to bend it. or some pvc piping. which ever would be easier. or use that bending aluminum tubing used for houses. dont know what its called.

very cool idea however, down here in Fla I have seen A LOT (dozens) of cars stalled out around here during a good summer thunderstorm (once a week at the most) and since your moving down here to the "sunshine state" (btw tampa, fl is the lightning capital of the world haha kinda funny) I would really think about doing the trailblazer style intake.

personally... I would buy a snorkel lol, have had water almost over the 31s down here

i have it rain here and snow. ive ran cold air intakes here and no issue of stalling out. and if you keep the tube up high enough you shouldnt have it suck it a hole lot. and i know what you mean about the thing that bends aluminum tubing. but what i ment is that you can squish aluminum between the fender to make it fit. looked on ebay lastnight and found some 3"piping for preaty cheap

gotts mod

I have not taken the wheel well cover down yet to see what kind of room I'm working with..but I was thinking of using a PVC elbow and plumbing it down with PVC...once you put that glue on the shit don't move..and then just plumb it down to the lower part of the bumper cover

For what its worth, ive learned thru experience that pretty much any and all air intake mods dont do anything. Piping really means nothing honestly. The only thing that makes sense for piping is that the less bends in the piping the better air flow you get. But thats about it.
What ive learned from having 5 performance mustangs and my Lightning, is that an open filter is about all you need. The stock intake systems are fine, its just the air "box" thats restrictive. Swap that out and you're good to go.
I did the Gotts-Mod, but it did nothing for me until I swapped in a K&N filter.
