Hello all i know you may be seeing this and saying hey another one lol or use the search but i think my issue is a lil more complicated then what i been reading online and seeing on youtube but anyway. I have a 2000 expedition 5.4l and when i shift from park its takes me to move hell and earth to get it to shift. I feel as though im going to break the shifter. I feel the shift lock solenoid release the shifter and then its hard to pull down. I have laid on the floor and tightenend the two torx bolts, i removed the column covers to see if the mechanism is loose or binding. Nothing today i popped the cable off the trans and shifted to see if maybe the cable was binding the shifter feels fine. I have yet to check the shift mechanism on trans. So my question is have i missed something? If its the mechanism on trans is it replaceable?

Well i found my prob due to rust at the shifter transmission side was rusted. I sprayed with rust penetrant and kept working it back and forth. It loosened up got alot better. Idk if it can be taken apart and serviced but it got better alot.

If it works better, don't rock the boat. When you start breaking apart 16 year old vehicles that have not been lubed, over the years, you might be opening a can of worms. Lube the linkage spots, from here on out with a quality lubricant, and try not to put stress on column, like parking on steep downhill. The ebrakes on these vehicles are marginal at best.
