I'm looking for a headunit for my 98 expedition. I want a double-din unit. Front USB (for mp3) & navigation are required, with navigation being the main focal point for double din.

front/rear pre-outs would be a cool benefit too in addition to sub pre-outs in case I decide to go crazy in the future, but it isn't a requirement.

Also, I've got factory "premium" audio... what's the process for bypassing factory amps to power it off the headunit only?

As always, thanks for the advice.

I like the appearance of that one and the 3 preouts... but no usb support for mp3s?

Do you use mp3s?

Thanks

EDIT: nevermind, i see it has rear usb now, I could always run a small extension cable to the cupholders or something.

On second thought... I think I can cut the price more than in half if I do away with navigation. I usually know where I'm going anyway, lol.

I am looking at the Pioneer avh-p8400bh. Not worried about the fron side input cause I can stream audio through the bluetooth.

cructhfield says no double dins will fit, wtf? lol...

You may have to cut the bracket inside the dash to make double din fit. :(

Crutchfield only list units that will fit without any tweaking?! lol..

Gotcha... i can't recall the bracket but I'm assuming the trimming is nothing major, probably a job for a pair of pliers?

It is the steel bracket inside the dash. Have not done the mod myself so cant comment on difficulty. I have single din unit.
