Hi Guys, I am new to this forum, just puchased a 2000 XLT. How do you reset the keypad code to unlock the door in the event you leave your key in the car?

I assume that you know the original keypad code. If you don't, it's printed on a box located under the dash in the vicinity of the parking brake mechanism. You cannot erase the original code, but you can add ONE supplemental five-digit code to the system. How? Key in the original code. Then within three seconds press the 1|2 button, then key in your desired five-digit code. Done. Repeat this process (using the original code) anytime you wish to change the supplemental code.

I'm bringing back this old post... Is there any way you can get a Ford dealer to somehow "flash" the code and put in a new one? I gave my door code to a mechanic because he locked the keys in my truck and needed in. I know I should of given him a supplemental, easily changed code for obvious reasons, so I take all the blame if my car/sound system end up getting stolen... Should I cross my fingers and hope this doesn't happen? Or is there a way I can fix this, and change the stock code?

if you know they working code...go in the manual and the steps to CHANGE code is there...if you dont have manual...search keypad code or something of that nature and you should be able to find the instructions...theyve been posted several times...or someone can post it from the manual of the same gen/yr
