High beam indicator

Does anyone else forget to turn the high beams off. With the blue lighting of the dashboard the high beam indicator blends in and I find myself leaving them on. The fog light indicator is green and stands out I wish ford made the high beam indicator a different color.

The blue high beam indicator is in every vehicle on and off the road not just Ford.
It stands out more than anything else to me.
And i appreciate that you are trying to do something about it. Coming from someone who lives in the country.

I miss the floor switch for the high beams on the older vehicles. I have almost run off the road trying to turn off the high beams in the middle of a corner. I have seriously thought about modding mine to a foot switch.

And the blue indicator is not centered, mine is upper left, which is not in my sight line.
Hey Yupster, love the floor switch, and miss it too.
In the SVRA, some teams prep their classic race cars so the high beam floor switch actually turns off the brake lights, since high beams are not necessary.

Drove my dad's 1980 Chevrolet Silverado C10 every day to high school. I loved the floor mounted high beam switch. I also loved the dual 20gal tanks and filling up each week was $20.

I get that in all cars they are blue but the gauges on my truck are backlit with blue lighting so the indicator does not stand out. Does everyone else have blue lighting for the instrument panel?

My 89 bronco had that it was great I also miss the front vent windows and the windshield wiper knob that allowed you to spay washer fluid for as long as you wanted to without turning on the wiper blades. That helped a lot when the windshield got muddy.

for me, all. the. time. it totally blends in with the overall blue dominated cluster, & goes completely unnoticed in my peripheral most of the time.... every other vehicle i’ve owned has had red dominated cluster & the blue Hibeam indicator always stood out so much, i am probably still having issues adjusting - 2 years into driving this & i’m still not used to it. (i will say that regardless of the bulbs, for those of us without the stock LED’s, it also doesn’t help that the hi-beam reflector pattern is so narrow.... good for distance, but not enough wide throw to remind you they’re on sometimes.)

I leave the lights in auto - they will dim when it sees headlights. Regardless, not seen an issue with noticing the blue beam indicator.

I also have spots and a-pillar lights, so am not going to 'forget' when the front of the vehicle is lit up like a supernova.

I dont think i have auto dimming high beams. Sounds like a good idea though you could just leave them on all of the time I suppose.

So you have your instrument panel lighting at 100% at night all the time?
Because the high beam indicator should stay at 100% even when you dim the guages. All blue or not you will see that difference.

I have the same complaint on my 2021 Expedition. The indicator is the exact same shade and brightness as all of the surrounding guages. The display could very easily be reprogrammed by Ford to change the color of it to bright red or yellow. For years, in a variety of vehicles, that little indicator light was always brighter and a different color for a reason. And as far as auto headlights, I'm still old school and like to operate them on my own.

For many years, blue high beam was the only blue light in a vehicle dash. Now, blue is the trendy color (my ambient lighting is blue, but at the lowest setting). So I can see how it could blend in. However, it doesn’t appear to dim when the instrument cluster is dimmed.

Here is my last point on the issue. I own 3 other brands of cars and the indicator is towards the top right of the cluster and stands out when it is on. On this truck it is located at the bottom and just blends in with the rest of the cluster. One thing that does stand out in the cluster is the headlight and fog light indicators. For some reason ford made them bright green.

Are the auto brights not a standard option? I have a 2020 XLT and above 30 mph the brights turn on and off by themselves. I believe it uses the camera in front of the rear view so maybe it’s an option with the 360 view rigs only.
