My 99 4.6 has 240k and averages about 11.5-13 mpg in town. We don't really have a reason to be on the highway here since any cities are over an hour away from us roughly. This is also in the desert pushing 100-110 degrees. Its not even hot yet, lol. I will be installing my CAI set up this next weekend as well as my Throttle body spacer. I will check back and let you know if this changes anything. Very happy with what I am getting from this old girl!

5.4 2wd with Gotts Mod, Mobil 1, K&N and Ultragauge with Hypertech Max Energy regular fuel tune. Mileage for my commute, which is about a mile, is terrible but I averaged 20.1 today on a 2-lane highway trip in the North Carolina mountains. :gr_grin:

I have a 97 4.6L with 174k miles on it, I was once getting 18mpg but checked it recently and got 11.1 through one tank, mixed driving. I just put a k & n filter so we will see if it improves.

Ok so CAI is installed. I have already noticed a decent amount of oomph from the swap and also after running two tanks through the truck I can say that I have gotten a good boost in MPG. I was very religiously getting 13 mpg for the past few months. The last two tanks were both above 15. Not a HUGE increase but more than I had hoped for with just a CAI install lol.

Not a dumb question at all! If there was such a thing as a dumb question, I'm sure one if my "OMG help I'm lost" posts would be a good example lol

When it was completely stock last summer I saw a best of 16.4mpg on a long road trip with 90% highway. Regular mixed 65/35 (more highway) I get 12-13 with winter gas and my 17" stock wheels. With summer gas and the 20" wheels i get 13.2-14.5. While towing a car and trailer on flat ground I was getting 12.2 last year. Im hoping to see a HUGE increase with my recent mods in sig. Love to hit the magic 20mpg hwy (with an e-fan and pullies comng too) but Id be thrilled with anything over 18mpg. Ill report back in a few weeks after I make a couple road trips with her.

towing is questionable mileage;
around town is certainly better than towing;
and open highway cruising, mid teen double digit mpgs achievable most of the time using cruise control.

2002 AWD 5.4L Paying attention to my foot I got 16.4 on a long trip. In the city I get 12.4.

When I first got my EXP I got 9mpg. Found out I had a bad IAC. Idled at 1200rpm. Replaced that and now I feel much better about my MPG.

on our new expy with a mix of city/hwy/school bus work and i ran it empty took 29.4 gallons to fill it we got an avg of 15.95

very happy with that

i think on a road trip i could easily get over 500 on a tank maybe it will go up when i get the exhaust done and tune it
