Does anyone know if the number of keys is limited on the 2017 Expedition?
I realize this is a mature thread but my question is related to this topic so I will start here rather than start a new thread. '
My keys have been cut, I have the listing for REMOTE START in ForScan and was ready to start. The Locksmith that cut the keys told some of the Fords (at least the older models he was not sure if it appl nied to the 2017 models) had a limit on the number of keys that can operate remotely. He thought only four could operate remotely and only 8 could be set to start the car.
When I got the Expy it only had one key. I purchased two more and programmed using ForeScan. So there are currently four keys though I only have three. I want to add the two for remote start.
He also said if the new keys do not operate the locks, cycle the ON-OFF 8 times to delete the remote program then depress the lock button on the four keys I want to use. I have of course read of the requirement to cycle ON-OFF 8 times make the remote start function but there was no mention of that procedure erasing the program for the other remotes.
What do you think? I am a little reluctant to start, now.
6 Sept 19 EDIT: I got one key to program the buttons and now have remote start. What the locksmith told me was not quite correct for my car. Cycling ON-OFF eight (8) times did not erase all the key's button programs. It only seemed to program the key in use.
6 Sept 19 SECOND EDIT: I tried the second key about a dozen times today and finally got it to program. Then, just to make sure, I tried Key no 1 again and it did not unlock the doors or start the engine. So I tried the ON-OFF cycling again and this time did press the lock button on each of the four keys and now they all unlock the doors and both new keys operate REMOTE START. Hurray!
