Hello all, 2003 eddie baur.

My check engine light kept coming on, took it to the dealer , and hooked up to diagnostics machine. They said it was elobw coming off the PCV valve, and wanted 80 dollars to replace it plus 75 for the diagnostocs. Prison rape i said, so went across the street to Bernard auto parts and got it for $3.00. however, this did not fix the check engine light.
Took it back to the dealer, and said check it again, and since last time you guessed, your not charging me for the diagnostics. They agreed.
Anyway Tech said now he thinks it is the Intake Manifold gaskets. $800.00 to fix.
Has anybody ever changed these ? I am mechanically inclined, just never did this and wondering what i am going to run into if i do it myself. Cant see paying them $800.00.

dwc, if you have some mechanical ability, you can do the intake gaskets. The big thing will be getting the fuel rail off and out of the way enough to get the intake out. Not that big of a deal. The "hardest" part is either getting to the back two bolts (one on each side) of the intake or getting the fuel rail back on the fuel injectors.

Since you are that far into the motor, this would also be a good time to do the spark plugs. With the intake off of the motor, doing the plugs will take you but 20 minutes to do. TRUST ME!!!! Granted, it is also the hard way to do the plugs too.
