I came on here to comment because I recently bought a 2023 Limited with HD Tow. In fact I ordered the SUV without HD Tow but it was required to be put on after I ordered. The suspension is very rough and my 2 year old in the back seat is getting jostled around quite a bit. The car seat is completely secured and it's shaking so much that the seat is rattling on every surface bump on the road. I'm already having major regrets buying this car.

Last week I took it in to the dealership because a noticed there was a large hood gap on the drivers side. The dealership was able to close the gap a bit, but both sides of the hood are a somewhat noticeable difference. The speaker cover in the front dashboard is warped as well, so they are ordering a new part. It wasn't until after I drove the SUV home and installed the new car seat for my son that I noticed how rough it was in the second and third row. I didn't order the CCD because I didn't like the interior styling of the Stealth Package. I drove a 2022 VW Atlas before this thinking this would be an upgrade, and the ride quality of the Atlas was much better than my Expedition. Am I alone with these issues and what should I do to get them corrected? Could this be the tires and the fact it's on 22 inch wheels? How much more will I need to spend to have a comfortable ride? What tires are you using for comfort?

I don't want to come across as complaining or bashing the car, I'm just dealing with quality issues and I want to be loyal to Ford. I just want some solutions, with the final solution being to take a loss and sell the Expedition. My dealership is being helpful so far and I'm looking for any advice or success others have had here to rectify some issues.
I’ve had 4 speaker covers replaced. You probably have a gap in the housing around the instrument cluster and the dashboard?

Yup, I have a gap above the instrument cluster as well. I should have been playing closer attention to all the flaws. What did you do to get the issues resolved?

Ford told me that is spec. So nothing will be done. The dealership basically says it’s really really bad but Ford isn’t going to do anything.

Is the gap in my picture bigger than yours? Sorry if you already posted a picture but I didn't see it. I had a 4 mm hood gap on the driver side as well. Speaker cover is warped but they are replacing it. I'm worried about dumping more money into this car. I wonder if I'll have to cut my losses and trade in for something else...

Yours may be slightly longer. Mine is parted in the corner about the same distance but it doesn’t seem to be as long down both sides.

I have to go into the dealership next week to replace the speaker cover, so I'll have to bring up this issue with them then. I'll update for anyone who is going through a similar issue. Also, I wish I had seen posts about getting CCD before I ordered in November. I browse the forum regularly and never came across that topic.

That looks like crud! no way that's "spec". two things, I would go to your dealer or anyone local that has this MY in stock, take some pics. Also look on Ford's website for interior pics, see if any show this region without that gap, then say, nope, not spec. That's like buying a dress shirt with one sleeve longer than the other. My eyes would venture to that spot every time i got in the car. I would call Ford customer care, don't expect much but also don't give up, it takes a lot of work to get service from Ford...

Yea after taking our first road trip in the nav and driving on the same highways as we did the expy, I can't recommend ccd enough. The "rough" pickup truck feel is almost non existent in the nav. Still truck feel, but a lot more isolated and quells most of the harshness away.

Still could use air springs though.

My XLT has this same issue with the trim piece lining up.

Also, my right rear speaker rattles once you turn volume up to 50%.

I have a +/- 5 mile drive on a winding hilly dirt/gravel road to and from my house that can vary from good to a pothole maze, depending on how long it's been since the county has graded it and what kind of weather we've had. The ride on my '22 Platinum is really impressive, much better even than the air suspension on my last Navigator.

Before I drove it off the lot I had the dealer swap the factory tires for Niitto Recon Grapplers that I bought beforehand, so I don't have a comparison between the two in terms of ride.

So on your Timberline, is your front center channel speaker cover wavy? Like it has 3 anchor points in really poor places? And the plastic housing around the instrument cluster, gaps in the top right and top left?
Yes, but not very badly.

I tried to tell yall, get the truck with ccd, esp if your getting the 22in rims.
So glad I joined this forum. I never new about ccd or how it works. I have a 22 Platinum Max that rides great. I read you could tell if you had it by looking at the shocks to see if a wire was connected to the shocks. Found the wire so I assume I have ccd.

Platinums have CCD. and if you didn't you would have likely had to have leaky shocks replaced already :)

I intentionally avoided the CCD when I bought my 2018. They have a history of failing prematurely, and are very very expensive to replace/fix. Then I learned that the adjustment setting was only available when you change modes. Sport is firm, economy is soft. Not sure if that is true. But sure enough failures are cropping up. But then again, the shocks are failing as well.

We just picked up our 2023 Limited Max Stealth Performance in January. We have taken it on a few road trips so far. Have almost 4K miles on it. With eco mode on we are getting on average 20 mpg. Only one issue so far. That is the rear seat entertainment system. The driver side headrest lost power so nothing on that side works. But for is remedying it in march. So we love it at a family of six. Tons of space! Tows my 10 ft dump trailer like a dream. Super comfortable and lots of power.

I wonder if they changed the suspension from the 2018 model. I did want a vehicle with off-road capability, so I expected a “firm” ride, But we have absolutely no regrets getting the standard suspension. In fact, I would call the suspension nearly perfect.

I see lots of tire issues coming from the factory - what brand/model of tire is the most trouble?
I want to avoid them when it comes time to replace mine...
