Hello

I have a 99 eb that I have had since I was 16 (almost five years). I just found this forum a few days ago and thought I could get some help. Last year I installed a k&n 77 air intake. I had always gotten about 10.5-11 mpg (not that good to start with) but since the k&n I have been getting about 8.5. I was told to not go over 2k rpm and that should help. I have been doing that for the past month but it has only gone up to about 9. I am thinking this is because unlike the stock intake the k&n is open to the engine heat. Is this right or could it be something else? Has anyone else had this with the k&n?

Thanks for your help.

well I am getting 12s in the city and almost 14 on the highway... with 37s... have an edge CS, true duals, K&N, throttle body spacer and stock 3.73 gears... I would probably start to suspect a tune up soon... such as new COPs and plugs... only motorcraft or autolite double plat plugs... and COPs from UNEEK/Global automotive on ebay... all 8 for under 100$$ shipped..... also make sure the filter is clean and not over oiled.. and clean the MAF... and a new fuel filter if you don't know last time yours was changed...

I plan to change the fuel filter but wasn't sure if I needed to change the plugs also. I had been told (by my mechanic) they are good till 100,000 miles but I thought that was only for iridium plugs? It says the filter comes pre oiled. Maybe a stupid question but how do I know if it is over oiled? Where is the iac valve located? It runs fine. Aside from the mpg I have not noticed any other difference (power) positive or negative.
