I was going into the Bruins game on Saturday, pulled onto Storrow Drive about 20 MPH and pressed the gas and lost all power to the motor. I had it in 4x4 hi at the time (it was snowing) and the car rolled a bit, I slipped it into neutral, shut off the 4x4 to 2HI, put it back in drive and I go power back. However I noticed that the ABS and ADVTRAC (car icon with skid marks) lights came on the dash. I could tell at that point that the ABS and ADVTRAC were no longer working. Anyone have any thoughts on what this may indicate as a source of the problem? I will note that I had pads and rotors done 3 months ago and I was recently getting squeeky brakes in the rear lately. It my be unrelated, but felt it might be worth noting.

03 Expedition, 5.4L, 4x4.

Thanks!

I do not know if this will help you, but I had a similar problem with my wife's 05 explorer. It was so bad that she described it as driving down the road, and advtrac would go off, power would be lost and the brakes would be applied. The dealership did not believe us. I spent $1500 with them switching out different parts. The last straw was them switching out the ABS unit ($1200) and still not fixing the truck. I told them I was not paying for them to experiment by swapping out parts. A few free parts later, they finally swapped out the brake booster. That was December 2010. It has been over 1 year and so far no problems. Actually, I had asked the dealership if it was the brake booster because it was making a creaking noise (like a screen door) when the brakes were applied. I was assured it was "normal" and that the booster was working fine.... Yeah right. Anyway, it turned out to be the brake booster, and it no longer creaks when the brakes are applied. I do not know if this will help you, but I spent about 3 months trying to get an answer from the web and the dealer, so I thought I would reply and see if I could help.

you need the codes in the abs/trac control module read. it is probably a wheel speed sensor.
