This my pig, well my boys call her big blue.
She has 4.6l V8 with straight pipes and 36x12.50x16.5, Military Hummer tires and Pacer rims. I would like to get some power and better gas mileage. Any help will rock..
Well if I could get the picture on there I would. sorry help me out

Generally, power and gas mileage don't like to go together :p .

Giant wheels and tires...what is your final drive ratio?

Unless you've geared-down to 4.56 or 4.88, your MPG will be terrible and your power will suffer as well.

x2 on Pronstar's comments..... lower gears may actually help fuel economy in this case.... I bet you can't even pull 5 inches of vacuum on the highway with the stock gears unless you are rolling downhill....LOL

hey Pronstar how do you change gear? I never had to worry about MPG before, my older trucks just had power and gas was cheap then also. Whats the difference between 4.56 and 4.88, and which would be better?

Is this a daily driver? 4.56 if so since you've got a V8, but i always say the lower the better. I had 4.56's with 35s on my explorer and it was a bit of a dog with the V6. Right now i've got 5.13's and 37's on it.

Yeah its a daily driver, and I decided to go with 4.56 gears, but I just have to figure out if I'm doing it or if I'll have it done since i leave for korea in a couple of months and it will sit for a year,

There's a method to gears that I'm not familiar with, so I had them done. If it's gonna site for a year I'd wait until you get back.

Heaven forbid something happens to the truck while you are away...and your money is wasted.

BTW - Are you going to prep your truck to sit for a year? Lots of bad things can happen if you just shut it off for a year without prepping it for such a long period of inactivity...
