That is bird shit on the front not chips, it only has a few paint dings and one scratch with no dents and i just got it in march 07. It is in incredible shape for being a 97 ...

Check the recalls are done on it. I know that for 97 there was a recall on something which allowed water into the transmission causing problems shifting out of 2nd. I know someone who has it and has the problem so.
Although since its in good condition I'd expect it to be done.
