Just recently picked up a 2014 limited 4x4 non EL. So far love it. however I have questions.

Has anyone switched out the stock radio and navigation unit for an aftermarket unit? Not looking to rattle windows because after all it is a family transporter but would like something with a little more power and better sound.

Fog lights. After having to replace the fog lights on my 2013 focus i can only assume the same will need to be done on the expedition. Will a replacement Hella or PIAA unit work as long as it's the same dimensions or is a specific unit required?

And finally the always debated intake and exhaust. Have you guys messed around with these to try and squeeze maybe a little better mileage out of this gas chugger?

Thanks in advance:cool::cool:

yes they have...go to crutchfield.com and "outfit your car"...put in information and it will show u everything on the market today that will 100% fit w/o modification in ur truck...UNFORTUNATELY...changing the head unit will only SLIGHTLY improve the audio output...if at all since u have nav unit...it may already be putting out 25 x 4 rms and will not get much better with aftermarket head unit...

swapping the radio will not "rattle" ANY windows in any vehicle...regardless of the cost...what you are wanting to hear deals with the upgrade of speakers....and CHEAPER than replacing head unit...factory speakers are pathetic flimsy paper cone speakers at 15 rms....MAYBE...crutchfield.com can help you with this as well and you dont need to spend a lot for the improvement...

this comes in 2 stages...speakers u should look into will be between 50-80 rms output...you have plenty of options and they will give you instructions to install them including how to remove your doors and EVERYTHING...you get lifetime customer support and if you call them they will walk you through the ENTIRE install over the phone...manuals have pictures with step-by-step instructions...

if you still want a little more output from the speakers that you buy...next step is to run them with an amp...this will increase the power of the speakers and will increase output...again...this will not rattle any doors/windows...once u talk about adding subs...THAT'S when it gets good

Thanks for the tip about the speakers. Since its a family hauler I need as much space as I can get so unfortunately no subs. It was a little disappointing to spend so much money on a vehicle and to have the radio be an after thought was a little bit of a bummer. Will start with better speakers and maybe do the head unit later down the line after my trial of satellite radio is up
