UPDATE from OP:

The replacement of the GPS fixed the Nav and the clock issue.

The dealer (after two attempts) still cannot get the seal right on the upper part of the drivers door. When going over 40, the wind noise from that spot (just above my left ear) is very intrusive. They have ordered another seal and will try again on Monday.

Dumb question: When my phone is hooked up via USB, and Carplay is streaming Spotify, how do I toggle between that screen and the non-Carplay screens (like Climate)?

Dumb question 2: When my iPhone is hooked up and Carplay is active, does that disable GPS and Nav?

Unrelated Dealer/Service observation - after driving a series of foreign cars (BMWs, Jag, Volvo, Subaru< Mercedes) the delaer/service dept experience with this Ford is way below par. Disinterested reps and cashiers, week plus waits to get in, no loaner (they'll call Enterprise but you pay), crappy waiting area with nasty coffee and a blasting TV, no wireless.....Why do foreign car dealerships do this so much better? Maybe its just the one I'm using....

Thanks - Mike

It's the one you're using

Walked in off the street no appointment for an alignment on my not-from-them, not-on-warranty old '09 SSV, got it done in an hour and a half at one LA dealership.... OK coffee, normal quiet waiting room, got written recommendations on which suspension components are due for replacement but no upsells or nonsense.

99 bucks as advertised. Done right and on time.

I also purchased a demo 2017 Expedition Limited, with 6000 miles, after I totaled my 2013 Limited. Love this vehicle. Rides great and with the Ecoboost V6 great gas mileage. We are heading on our first long trip next week from La. to Mo. Can't wait.

Mike, I think it is your dealership. I usually get in within a couple of days when I need service. It just depends on if they are very busy. My family bought 4 cars from them last year - my dealership is very friendly they were friendly before we bought the cars. When I complained about a water, leak they provided me with a loaner, their loaners were out but they hooked me up with Enterprise and they payed for it. It's probably the difference between small town and big city.

Question 1 - On the left side of the screen, if I remember correctly are icons that allow you switch back to Sync.

Question 2 - As far as I know GPS is still active. I just rarely connect my phone by USB because I don't have a need for it.

No luck...

third try with new seal - no luck. They are ordering another(!) seal and trying it tomorrow. If that does not work "we will reach out to Ford to see what they have to say". Ummmm.....Ok, figured that call would've been made already, but what do I know? Keep you posted. Mike

When I first received my 17 I had a wind noise in the same location. My issue was door alignment.

Yours may not be as far out as mine was but this might give you a place to look.

This was the before picture:

Our new 18 has that issue on the rear door. Gonna have it looked at.

Not sure if this helps, but I had a (very) small water leak in my driver's door area. My door was replaced years ago when I hit a deer. They must have messed with the inner seal as part of that process.

The door openings (and also the windshield) have a "lip" of sheet metal around the perimeter called a "pinch rail" where two metal panels come together and get spot welded. I peeled back the inner weatherstrip around the top of the door opening and discovered it has metal inside the rubber that holds the shape and grips the pinch rail. In one area of my weatherstrip, it had been spread open. That was allowing a small amount of water to leak into the cabin. I pinched it closed again, reinstalled it, and my truck has been bone dry since.

You might want to peel back your weatherstrip all the way around the opening and check that it's tight and gripping properly all the way around.

I'm back - truck is not. Service rep just called - "Our parts driver is sick, so the seal won't be here today, how's tomorrow?". These guys...

BTW, he says they have checked door alignment, sagging, etc... - no change.

At this point, I'm going to give them this last shot at fixing it, and if it does not work, I'm going to go to a different dealer and start some sort of record with Ford.

I know I'm lucky this is not some drive train (drivetrain?) issue, but irritating nonetheless.

Thus endeth (this) mini rant. Cheers. Mike

Maybe time to apply the lemon law if available in your state.

Hab, I took it in to the dealer's body shop complained about the door being out of align and air noise. I showed the the driver's side compared to the passenger side and they asked me if I could wait for a little bit I said sure and went and prowled around the new cars in the show room and came out about 15 minutes later and it was all done. I had no idea what they did but it worked. Probably just bent the top of the door or hit it with a rubber mallet.

Sometimes you do not want to watch how they fix stuff. :)

Very true. I always hate when they have to disassemble anything because I've had them leave screws out and then you start hearing squeaks and rattles. The only good thing about getting older is that my hearing isn't as good as it once was so that stuff doesn't bother me as much as it used to. o_O

Had to have my rear drivers side adjusted.

Before:
The two vertical trim pieces are touching, and the paint had rubbed off. The back door was too far forward.IMG_0211.JPG

OP here. Got the truck back two days ago and its actually FIXED. The perpetually disinterested service tech grumbled something about having to 'replace all three seals - the exterior, interior and the one around the window.' I was about to come back with 'Why not do that first visit?...' but figured that would get me nowhere and I just wanted to get out of there with my (finally) non-air whistling truck.

BTW, what dealership does not wash the car after service in 2018? Or have I just been lucky with previous dealers? Regardless, this whole thing has put me off this dealer and in the future I'll be going to a different one here in St. Louis.

Thank you for all the valuable insight. Mike

Awesome! Glad they got it fixed. My Ford dealer does not wash vehicles. I was spoiled from driving Mercedes for 24 years and I was used to getting them washed after any service. I have an unlimited pass at my local car wash so I get it washed a couple of times a week when I'm not being lazy.
