Hello all Im a newbie. I own a 1997 Expedition XLT that right now is not sitting tough at all. The complete front end suspension is totally shot to hell, the air ride system recently took a dump on me, leaky valve covers on a 4.6 to where Im buying oil by the gallons to put in every so often. Since the air ride went out, my oil problem had been temporarily fixed because the leak is at the front of the valve covers and does not leak since its at an angle. The body and interior are clean but as picky as I am it really needs a paint job. Im a former body man/mechanic who learned from experience not schooling. I originally bought the truck as a winter beat to get me through last years Michigan winter, but since then fell in love. I see too much potential to get rid of it and am in phase one of repair work and wouldnt mind some friendly advice and tip from all you guys who either been in my situation or helped other with the same issues. I want this truck right and back to being Ford tough. This weekend starts fase one of suspension repairs. I recently purchased the strutmasters air ride conversion kit along with the monroe load adjusting rear shocks, as well as moog ball joints. Phase 2 will consist of center drag pitman and idler arm plus full tie rods and wheel bearings. Was going with moog for that as well. Am I going the right way or are there better performance parts out there for expedition. Let me know. Ill be taking a few before and after pics to post up with my truck as I work on it. Thanks for having my a part of the fantastic club.
