i know its small and most people would never think of it. buttttt i'm all about the details!

so a few days ago i decided to order newer style ford key blanks. since i have the PATS system bypassed in both my trucks i dont have to worry about programming or chips.

so the new keys came in today. i had one cut for my excursion and one for the expedition. plus they cut them for free at fred myers..cant beat that!

I take it by "PATS" that's the vehicle security? I like the new keys will those fit in my 2000? it never was equipt with security or a chipped key? also did you know on those keys you could have one truck cut on one side of the blank and the second truck cut on the other side and only need on key for both truck???? :hmm:

when my remote starts were installed a PATS bypass was installed to allow the trucks to start. this made it so i no longer needed a chipped key in either truck as i did stock.

i got the blanks off ebay, cheapest ones i could find with no chip inside it. think i paid like $10 for both keys.

theres no way to cut one key for both trucks, look at the keys..both sides are cut and used. its ok i have 2 sets of keys. one has the excursion, expedition, explorer on it..as pictured and the others are my house keys, plow truck keys, family members truck keys..ect ect

This intrigued me... is it possible that both sides are cut so you can insert the key either way and it will work? If they cut one side for one vehicle and the other side for the other vehicle, maybe you just have to make sure to insert the correct side up for each vehicle?
