Anyone have opinions on these? The wife was talking to a neighbor about "how great their car runs" with Lucas Oil additive in it. She wants me to put that in our Expy. My mechanic says to avoid it, along with any kind of additive. Oil only, he said. I'm fine with that, since that is all I've ever done.

Thanks.

Any quality oil will already have all the properties it needs to perform well in your engine. If you think you need a better oil then check out the oil thread. Like your mechanic, I would recommend avoiding additives.

i agree any top notch oil is going to have the additives you then when you use an additive like lucas or slick50 they can cause bearing corrsion... alot of what you hear when people talk about additives is them wanting to feel good about spending the outrageous price for the product... and think about this oil companys spend millions of dollars in R&D for there products if there really was something better dont you think they would be using it??????? IMO use a high quality synthetic oil and your covered

Lucas synthetic all the way

I live out here in sothern New Mexico and in the summer months ( basically May - November) our daily high is around 100 or some times higer. I use the Valvoline max life synthetic blend 5w-20 along with one quart of the Lucas Pure Synthetic and have noticed a huge difference. Before I started using the Lucas I would start to get a liffter tap about 1500 miles after an oil change and the oil presure would drop to 30psi at hot idle, now that I am running the liffter tap never shows up anymore, and my hot idle oil pressure is at 45psi. So my .02 is that Lucas is a quality product but I would not use any other type of additive. Hope this helps.
