Hi everyone I am new to the site and inquiring about any experiences with having to get their intake gasket replaced? I contacted a dealer and they would charge me 500 to get it fixed. Is this a good deal?

From a dealer that's a good deal. I paid $325 for plenum gasket, plug, and a coil pack. Dealer is always hire then a private mechanic. While its being done, wouldn't hurt to get the objectors..I opted not to do them but should have and def would have if I weren't a broke ass

Thanks for the response.I just got a quote from another mechanic someone I used to go to and he gave me a price of 375 for everything. I will ask about the objectors. How much was your mechanic going to charge you for the objectors?

I think that you would be needing a good ford expedition repair for that situation. In that way, you would be able to really make things work out to change out the intake gasket of it. I just hope that things would went out well in the long run.

There is no such thing as an "objector", but what he is talking about would be the FUEL INJECTORS there are 8 of them and they have to be removed in order to do the intake gasket so the mechanic should not charge much more to install new ones.

They are a bit pricey, but they will help out in the fuel economy department since as they get older the tips of the injector ( where the gas sprays from ) gets dirty and instead of a nice "fan" spray pattern they tend to just "drip" the gas which does not give a complete burn.
If you take it to a good mechanic they may have a "micro sonic cleaner" which they can place your old injectors in and have them come out almost as clean as new ones. Then all you need to replace are the plastic tip caps and the O-rings. This is a much cheaper route and if the injectors are working, then it is really all that needs to be done to them.
