265,000 miles and hoping for more.

2000 Expedition, Eddie Bauer, 2 wd, 5.4

Bought New.

From day 1 have used the 265/70/17 tires, which is stock for the 4 WD. Wanted the extra clearance over the 60 series that comes from the factory.

265,000 miles

72,000 - Alternator failure, replaced with rebuilt unit.

185,000 - New Fuel Pump.

264,750 - Cleaned up the IAC valve and throttle body - A very minor repair.

Tires typically last about 70,000.

Front brake pads go to about every 70,000, rear pads about 125,000.

Not much else except normal wear items, trans. and cooling system svc, etc.

Everything works just like when the truck was delivered new. No electrical issues at all.

150K miles

150K+ miles, no major issues - O2 sensor, rear heat actuator, backup sensors went out a while ago, and I can't find a coolant leak!!

Meant to write more - It's a 2006 Eddie Bauer and recently my mileage has dropped from low teens to around 7 to 8 mpg!!

Have a 98 Lincoln Navigator.

I bought it with 195,000 on it. Motor and tranny are dry, no leaks. Had new compressor and rear bags. New rear trailing arms.

At 200,000 I had to replace alternator ( they had a expy one on it, so not strong enough). Then also replaced rear shocks.

I averaged 14-15 on hwy and 9-10 in town.

I put boss motorsports 22" wheels on and now Avg 17-18 on highway and 11-12 in town. Don't understand how with the 22s lol.

Now have 215,000 I believe. Still runs strong.

I had a 2002 eddie Bauer 4x4 that had 165000 miles and performed flawlessly. Traded that for a 2005 Eddie Bauer 4x4 with 120000. I am totally sold on the 2nd gen expeditions. Just the small upgrades that Ford did to the 2nd Gen's made a big differance to me. My only issue with my 2005 is those DUMBA** spark plugs Ford installed in the 3 valves

Have had my 2000 5.4L AWD EB for about a month and a half, put over 2,000 mi on it already and it runs great, loving it except for the terrible gas mileage - 126,700 on it now.

I answered the survey for the '99 EB 4x4 I had until March since that's the one I've had the most experience with. When I sold it, the milage was around 170K. It was reliable overall - no major transmission or engine issues. However, the following were issues we dealt with related to the motor:

- Spark plug coils - first went bad while on road trip with girlfriend (now wife). Cost me $350 and told it was due to the "heater hose" dripping on it - a common problem. Eventually replaced all of them after having two other plugs go bad at various times up through around 150K. Luckily, it got cheaper to replace them.

- Fuel pump around 125K. Was going bad for a while. Didn't know it, but while on a road trip to the mountains, wife driving couldn't get it to go over 25 up the mountain road. When I took over, everything was fine. Fast forward a month or so later, had problems starting it. While waiting on a tow truck, got it started and immediately got it to the dealer. Good thing I knew the service manager - it was expensive.

- Air intake - when I bought the expy, it had a K&N performance intake kit installed. At around 90K miles, started having problems keeping it attached to the engine. At around 140K miles, ended up buying a new kit since it would no longer stay attached and the filter needed to be replaced as well. Come to find out, the issue all along was the rubber "mate" where the plastic met the engine intake was bad.

- Alternator around 150K - died on my wife while going through a tunnel. She made it out but died before she could get off an exit. Towed to dealer to replace since my normal mechanic was in another city.

I have since upgraded to an '11 EL that also has the 5.4 in it. I bought it with 15K on it and now have 18K. It's golden!
