Hey guys,
I was kicking around the idea of a true 2wd t-case swap... And then today my truck agreed with some lively popping and bumping on acceleration. I'm not 100% but sounds like the AWD kicking in and out... But I'm new around here. I say it's an excuse for a t-case upgrade! So what would be the suggested for a beefy direct fit t-case with true 2wd?

I am just on my phone, so it is hard for me to look through all the other threads, but somewhere on either this thread or the other expy one, therr is a discussion about a certain wire you can cut to deactivate the A4x4. I cant remember which one it is, but hopefully someone else can chime in with some more info. So you wont have to worry about swapping your t-cacse. Besides, I think all the t cases are the same and it is the electronics that activat A4x4

I'm familiar with the brown wire mod. I am hoping for a true 2wd t-case.

All of the transfer cases have a 2wd selection. If you pop off the shifter motor, it will show where it will be aligned to be in 2hi, 4hi, and 4lo. This is a pic of mine.

The transfer case I have behind my 4r70w is the same transfer case as behind the 04-08 F150s with the 4r75e that have a 2wd selection. I'm not sure what t-case is behind the 4r100 tranny.

When the A4x4 is activated by a slipping tire, the electronics are what shift the truck into 4x4

Nice pic 99. Thanks for the tutelage, I have only modified with manual 4wd systems to this point. I hadn't realized that it was a physical shift between 2 and 4wd. I pulled 104 and the sound has been quelled, but lost all 4wd settings for now. I think I am going to have to replace the T-Case. Is there a HD type that may be able to be used? Like a F250 model?

why would you have any other motor???
lol jk just bustin 99's balls haha

Well, when I got the expy from my parents, I didnt have much of a choice. ... Although, I may have a line to a cheap v10 and harnesses, etc.

But zulu, I believe the 4 speed auto trannies in ths super duties have the same tranny, but I am not sure about the number of splines between the trannies and t case. Ill try to find more info soon. Get internet back tomorrow, so its easier than on my phone lol

I'm just getting into Expy's from F150s but has anyone looked at using an F150 tcase? Since its the same engine and transmission choices usually wouldn't it be an easy swap?(electronics could be an issue). I like the above mentioned Super Duty tcase as its the same situation but with a heavier duty tcase.
