I had no trouble finding rubber for 16's. Plus like you said.... way more sidewall. Nice to see the ***** troll never came back.
Hahaaaaahaaaaaa, I know, really!! Let's just build a truck & have some fun.
if you want a lot cheaper tires and you dont mind some slightly used race tires you can get them for like $100 a tire off racedezert.com or even pirate4x4. but i do like 16s. they look better and have more rubber. but still you can find rubber for it, just not as easily as with 17s. and if you do upgrade and decide on bead locks or some other aftermarket wheel i would say get 17s. most bead locks dont even come in 16s. 15,17,20,22. but the 20 and 22 are for 40s+. haha
Yeah, race dezert is a good place, never been to pirate before. 17's would be a good choice for larger disc brake calipers as well.
BTW, what does Ford call my 4-Link look-a-Like suspension in the rear? It really looks like Giants "Daily driver link" only shorter. Go to their website and check it out. I think that's what I'm going to do in the rear. H&M in Front or Dixon Bros.
Give me your opinions on spare tire mount! Swing away or something tied into a custom roof rack. I'm getting some free KC's from my buddy so we might do a light bar/roof rack then tie a spare tire carrier and floor jack on it. I don't want to lose my third row seat for a tire & Jack. Decisions decisions.....
Thanks guys for the support. I love my truck!
so the first thing I did was purchase 5 Mickey Thompson wheels & 5 Yokohama 315r16 tires. Then it went to California to Perry McNeils to have the front clip and the rear glass installed. I flew out there and picked it up then it went to get the front bumper built. Then about 7 months later I had the rear bumper buil, but it was supposed to have the carrier built with it but the shop didn't have time or something. So now it's going in on Thursday (I hope) to get the tire carrier/floor jack swing arm built. I did install the Jet Performance Throttle Body Spacer but that's about it. This truck has lived the life of a Princess. All leather, ICE COLD Air Conditioner, never had any major issues. I had the coil on the passenger side fire wall location replaced because Ford had the great idea of putting the radiator heater hose directly over that cylinder. So some fluid made the coil misfire but I got that squared away. Any expedition owner would tell you the same story.
