Anyone find any information about installing proximity (keyless) pushbutton starting and locks to a 3d Generation Expedition?

I've seen retrofit kits but all the ones I've found are cheap Chinese rubbish. Haven't seen anyone do this on an Expedition or F-150 yet with good OEM quality stuff.

I'd be certain that the Ford system on late models is so dependent on CAN interface and the model's harness that it would be next to impossible to integrate into an older truck, so I'm looking for an aftermarket setup with real quality parts. The $40 Web Site junk is reviewed to be undependable and unreliable.

What year is your truck? My third gen has proximity keyless and push button start from the factory.

Nevermind. saw in another thread you have a 2008. My 2015 Limited came with it. I honestly don’t know if it was an option in the 2008...

We have keyless ignitions but I wouldn't classify them as proximity because the proximity of the fob to the ignition is only a couple of feet or it wont work. Real proximity keyless setups will also unlock / lock the car from several feet away as you walk up to or away from the car. Our trucks do not do that. We have to lock/unlock by pushing a button

My CTS-V has a proximity sensor. Even though the doors unlock when Im waking towards it I still have a habit of using the FOB to do everything

What I really like is what we had on our 2016 Explorer (and is available on the 2018 Expedition) where you can unlock the doors by grabbing the door handle provided you have the key fob in your pocket or on your person. We use this feature every day. It would be a great option to retrofit!

I was on Summit racing and stumbled upon "Digital Gaurd Dawg", reminded me of this post. I know nothing about the company or its products, but look to be well ahead of the Chinese junk you've been seeing. Pricing is significantly more than $40.

Looks like they have several options, getting you both proximity and push button start. They take OEM push buttons and modify them to be compatible with their system. So if you dont want the Ford, you can order the Nissan, Honda, or Toyota.

Thank you! That may be just the ticket. Summit Racing is an excellent company and they carry some very high quality products.

We still do have proximity fobs. Just not all the features that would make life easier like automatic unlocking. I walk up to my truck and merely press any key on my keypad and all the doors unlock. Not too difficult for me. To lock I just press the last two keys and it locks. Never need to get the key out of my pocket. But I admit it would be nice for this all to be automatic like other proximity keyless systems. Viper makes a system and this company might be one you could look into?

Can anyone who has factory proximity fobs and push start please confirm - can you use the proximity function to unlock/ open the rear lift gate by pushing the release button in the handle while the vehicle is locked and fob is in your pocket? My keypad functions as Muddy Bean mentions, but according to the owner's manual I thought I would be able to open the rear hatch and it is NOT working that way on my new 2017 Limited. If I want to open the rear hatch, I either have to use fob buttons, or walk around to the keypad first and hit any button to unlock the truck and then I can manually trigger the hatch switch for it to swing open. Trying to figure out whether I'm misunderstanding the manual, or if something isn't working correctly in mine. Seems silly to not have a proximity sensor in the lift gate. Thanks in advance for any input.
