Ok so I was watching an extreme 4x4 episode and it was said that the bulk head connectors on the wiring harnesses are the same so I could use the wiring harness from the 5.4 with the stock 4.6 ecu.

Is there any truth to this? Because I want to do the swap but I like the look with COPs and my 97 4.6 has plugs and wires.
I'm looking to get a used 5.4 from a 2000 F-150

Anyone that I have read about doing the swap has used the harness of the motor they are installing, usually the 5.4. I'm not saying they aren't interchangeable, just that most people change them anyways.

the 4.6l and 5.4l engines do share harnesses but some 4.6ls came with 2 coil towers using wires. you can use this setup on the 5.4l or if the 4.6l has COP you will have no issues with that either.
the factory 4.6l ECU is fine you'll just need a tuner to tune the computer for displacement air/fuel all of that stuff before you even start it up on your own or risk damage to the heads and pistons.
not sure of mounts and the 5.4l uses the same transmissions and the flex plate im not sure of either with the converter aswell.
