I just have a quick question before killing my 26 year old... he took the muffler off my old expedi and is not running anything but straight pipe..has not added anything...What damage can that do to the motor? Especially in 19 degree weather?

Can't do anything bad to the engine... Yes it has less or no back pressure to help the exhaust valves, but it won't damage or hurt anything in actuality. Its fine running a straight pipe, just loud and annoying...

One can hope you mean just muffler and not straight pipes from the engine all the way out . If he took out the catalytic converters that is a whole different story. Probably not even very possible considering the sensors required to run the engine.

You can easily run straight pipes. It'll throw codes, but it'll run.

And running no muffler won't hurt a thing- except your ears.
