Beware of the new 2015 Ford Expeditions! I traded in my 2012 Expedition for the 2015 EL with v6 Turbo engine. I was hauling a small box trailer (12 foot with 2200 pounds total) and at 1517 miles, the rear differential and under carriage of the suv had smoke rolling out and oil leaking everywhere! Almost 3 months later, Ford replaced my new broken 2015 Exped. EL with another new 2015 Expedition EL. I have had the suv for 2 weeks and put the 1000 miles break in period on it before towing the small box trailer again. It also broke down with 1599 miles on it and the whole rear differential is burned up on this suv. There is something going on with the factory that is putting them in, they are burning up but maybe only when towing. If you own a 2015 Ford Expedition, get your rear differential inspected at the dealership. Two new Ford Expeditions in 3 1/2 months having the same serious problems with the rear differential is a serious SAFETY ISSUE! It will seize up and going down the highway at high speeds is dangerous.

Unless they have moved away from the normal ring and pinion setup I would expect a few things. The rearend is set tight, the lube has changed to the point of foaming up or is underfilled.

Funny, I have a buddy with a Limited and he tows his 5,000 lb boat trailer combo all over Texas with it and I have heard him complain once of this. My wife and I just put a deposit down on a new 2015 Limited as well.
