i was listening to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAAvNmoqDq0 and messing with my kcs. and they kcs were dimming. my voltage wasnt dropping but i see the lights dimming. and then i turned them off and my lights were still dimming. so YAY! gotta do the big 3 before i kill my alt anymore. whats the company that someone posted to me on the other forum? i gotta find it now. haha gotta get like 15 feet of this stuff. why so much? just cause. haha so i know i have extra. it should cost about $30 for it too i think. $1.something a foot if i remember. but i could be WAY wrong. i could be thinking triple that.

for me the cost of the fuse box out weighed the cost of a mishap. if it were to disconnect from the alt or the bat without the fuse box you are almost guaranteed a fire.... so its up to you. i have not had it disconnect and its been about 1.5 years now but i have it just encase. the off road lights i would splice and solder into the 0 gauge they will be given a better connection without affecting the sound system.

I would go with this instead of a fusebox, if it trips, you can reset it and not have to carry extra fuses.. I use a 150amp one in my stereo setup.

if the install is done perfect and you dont off road then id agree. the fuse is probs overkill.... but why risk it for a few extra bucks

I go off-roading but nothing toooo crazy, but then again, all my cabling is secured and wouldn't rattle loose and touch anything.

 whats the "big 3"?

There are 3 main grounds on the vehicle, I think alt to battery, engine ground, and batter to chassis ground. When doing the big 3, you swap those cables out and put a bigger gauge wire in. I think you use 0 gauge. From the better connection, you get better power flow, which causes less dimming and lower voltage drops, and puts a smaller load on your electrical system.

thats about it. most people use 0 gauge, but some 4 gauge. its 1 power wire and 2 grounds. and some people do the cable to the fuse box too. so thats why its big3/4. but its he has it right. alternator to battery +. battery to chassis ground -. and battery to engine ground -.

You don't have to necessarily replace the existing ground, a ground is a ground, so you can just add it somewhere else on the motor as long as it's good and solid.

That is true, I've seen on some other forums that people keep the old one on and put the new one on too if the one that is already on there is hard to get at. Where do you get the 0 gauge wire at? I have the tools to do this, but not the material, and this summer I'll be either staying at the lake I'm working at or in the mountains, and this would be a good mod to do when I'm bored of too much fishing :D if that ever happens lol

fishing gets boring if the fish arnt biting or if they bit to much and they are too small. haha but you can 0 gauge anywhere. i just dont remember the site that someone told me on the other forum. im not sure if it got deleted or what, but i cant find it. its bumming me out. cause it was good prices. but if i were you i would buy a little spool off ebay. its pricey, but per foot its cheap. and if anyone else you know needs to do it just sell it to them for more! so you can make some pesos. haha

Stereo shops will carry 0 gauge... Or save yourself money and buy it online like on ebay... Stereo shops sell name brand and charge accordingly...
