I am looking at using a gen II expy as a platform for my latest project. I have a few questions to ask/assumptions to confirm.

I am wanting a 4.6 (only available 2003/2004?)
Is it true that the 4.6's had 8.8 based rear ends as well as 8.8 based fronts?

Can you fit a 16" wheel on a gen II? or will it not clear the calipers?

I'm sure I will have more questions as time goes on...

Thanks!

The second gen was only available with the 4.6 in 2003 and 2004, there was never a 4.6 3v available in the expedition. All 2003-04 with the 4.6 should have the 8.8 front and rear even if it was ordered with the tow package (mine has it and they're still 8.8s). I'm not sure about the wheels but I'm sure someone has done it.

I seriously doubt 16 will clear. But I have never tried.

My 04 has a 9.75 rear.

Maybe some second gens had left over live axles from first gen?

Good luck !

They answered most the questions but I'd say the 16" won't fit... my 17"s are a centimeter from the caliper lol
