If you ever get stalled, what are the steps to perform in order to arrive at the cause of the problem? Are there simple ways to rule out all the possible causes before panic sets in? Thank you very much.

Check the simple things first - fuel in the tank, can hear the fuel pump running then depending on how it stalled, scan for active codes.

Logic will tend to eliminate items that aren't the cause. There isn't a reason to panic unless a loud banging sound has been heard and ignored. Then it only gets costly.

Two basics, fuel and fire. Once those have been eliminated as a cause then you have real problems especially if the CEL is off no code is shown even after scanning.
