Steering intermediate shaft

2002 expedition 5.4L

The steering intermediate shaft is making noise. A new one is $300+.

Can I knock off the UJoint section at the bottom and replace with an aftermarket UJoint section? They're $30... If not, I'll get the assembly.

good question. mine needed replacing last year. bit the bullet and pony'ed up the bones. but its much more nice now.

Any universal joint can be replaced as long as theirs a replacement joint, and its not frozen in the old shaft.
