Tips for remove/repaint/reinstall 1999 EB 4x4 trailer hitch? Can I reuse the hitch-to-frame bolts? Other forums says bolts are single-use.

My concern is from a Safety Recall 00S05 done on the vehicle in 2000. The bulletin says they would reinstall the hitch assembly "using updated attaching hardware at a higher torque". What is that higher torque, and can the bolts be reused?

They are just putting a stronger bolt on.. Everything is the roll of the dice.. Are all the bolts going to fail at the same time? I doubt it.. I would torque them down to spec and replace as one fails if you don’t want the upgrade..Check on them every now and then..

You can call the dealer service department and give 'em your VIN number and ask about the safety recall for the hitch bolts. Maybe they'll have some in stock. They bumped the torque specs up on them too.
