Tires needed..............Highway mostly driven

Hello,
I realize that 'personal' preference is much in the decision of which tire to buy. Also 'past' experience with a certain brand will influence choice also. But I will ask the question anyway.

I have a 2017 Limited. 275x55x20 . It comes with Hankook Dynapro HT. I have 52K+ miles on them and my opinion of them is that they "Are OK, but......." When new they rode kind of nice and were kinda quiet. But now they are not nice riding and are not quiet......but then they are wearing out so what do I expect...........

A while back I had put Cooper Evolution H/T on my 2010 Ford Ranger 4x4 extended cab; fairly decent size truck even tho 'mid-size' classification. The Cooper's were extremely quiet and the ride was really quite nice for a 'Mid-Size P/U'. Sooooo, I am kinda leaning towards the Coopers. The load range and speed rating is higher than what is needed so the tire is applicable to my 2017 vehicle.

Admittedly I have had good experience with Michelin's. But, they will cost me about $200+ more than what the Cooper's will cost. Plus if one is to believe the 'reviews' on places like TireRack and TireBuyer the Cooper's actually came out ahead in the 'Ride' and 'Quiet' categories.

My TOP PRIORITY is Ride and Quiet. Mileage expected is arbitrary. I've never had a tire last 80K miles (Michelin has that for their Defender LTX)

Looking for opinions from folks who drive mostly highway miles. I travel a lot each year, for me anyway. Around 15K and more each year. Snow is not a concern.

These are my favorite as well. Now get ready for another tire debate thread. "Michelins aren't worth the extra cost". "Coopers gave me 50 extra horsepower", etc.

For mostly highway use, I'm partial to the Michelin Defenders. If you have a Sam's Club membership right now you'll you get $70 off 4 and another $40 off install (normally $80). If you have a Chase Freedom credit card, you can use that and get another 5% back (until 3/31).

I’ve had Coopers. Ok, good. I’ve got General HTB all season now, good, little stiff but good especially in wet.

Michelin’s... always been the best. Quieter, smoother, better constructed ie kept their balance longer and easily rebalanced.

I fell for those same reviews and those are people talking themselves into not buying Michelin’s.

I drive 500-1000 mi week all highway.

I’ll never buy any other again.

Ditto. They've been great since I've had the truck. About to replace the ones I have with another set from BJs that seems to have the same deal as Sams on these tires.

I replaced my Goodyear Wranglers on my 2012 Limited yesterday with MICHELIN Defender LTX M/S All-Season Tire. My wranglers were worn, but the difference in the ride quality and the sound reduction was night and day. The michelins were $230 per tire, but they are worth every penny. I have the Michelin LT M/S2 on my 2011 King Ranch and they ride well on the 20in tire, but not as good as on my Limited with 18in tires. The extra rubber on the 18in tire makes the ride much better.

I have contacted Michelin and they are telling me the LTX M/S2 are being discontinued. 'They' recommended I proceed to inquire with the Defender tire.

I've read some other independent reviews and the Cooper Evolution does get positive reviews. So, I am not totally discounting these yet.

Does anyone have a recommendation for winter tires for my 2017 Ex Ltd. The truck is used for late season launching and hauling out on gravel boat launches that will some times have ice or heavy snow in late December

I have Bridgestone Dueler H/T tires. I drive mostly paved roads/streets and the occasional snow and I bought them primarily for comfort on dry roads and they perform reasonably well. I bought them brand new from a Toyota dealer which took them off a brand new SUV that they upgraded to the big mud tires so I got a good deal.

I live in the snow belt in N W PA. I never saw a need for anything more than all season. Not like we get the mountain snows like out west.. I do keep heavy winter tires on the back of my duelly f350.. but more for off the road

Yeah, dead. Costco does have $150 off 4 ($70 off + free install) Bridgestone until 4/13. Chase Freedom also still has 5% cashback at Costco until 3/31.

After exploding a set of recapped tires that took off a fender in my teens, I moved up...

Spent my life buying the cheapest American tires I could find -- Generals, Coopers, Good Year. Every 16,000 miles I'd replace them because they wore out.

Found a set of Michelin Defender LTX's on Craigslist. They now have 50,000 miles on them, and have been the quietest, nicest, well balanced tires I ever drove. I will NEVER buy anything else. EVER!

I went from Cooper to Michelin. Not even a comparison Michelin is better in every single way for a road going highway tire. Never will buy a cooper again. It’s like a Chevy vs a Cadillac.

Dang. I’ve got at least 16k miles on my Coopers. I guess I should start shopping for tires. They appear to have plenty of tread on them, but according to your anecdotal account, they should be ready to be worn out.

I live in New Hampshire and have been running with the Michelin Defender LTX's (on 2nd set) on my 2010LimitedExpy. Most all highway miles. These tires are very quiet, very comfortable ride with good steering responsiveness, and the tread life is amazing. As with most all you have posted their experience here, this is a premium tire at a premium price. I think that price is worth it. I religiously rotate my tires and am ensuring tire pressures are always spot on. You can highway run these tires run with confidence on dry or wet pavement. The bad? They are not a very good snow/slush/ice tire...and I am not talking about "deep" snow.

Another tire that I had extremely good experience with are the Bridgestone Dueler A/T REVOs. I ran through 3 sets of these. These are a bit more aggressive looking (and had raised white walls) and performing tire. I ran these on my 98EBExpy, again mostly highway miles. These were a great replacement to the OEM Wranglers. The REVOs rocked on all accounts, but really shined in wet and winter weather driving for me, especially in traction/steering response in the winter. When compared to the Michelins, I found the REVO's were not as quiet/smooth as the Michelins, the tread life shorter, and they were very sensitive to wear along the inner/outer most treads, despite my constant rotation and tire pressure monitoring. Still a VERY GOOD TIRE.
