Just curious if anyone ever came up with any suggestions? I hate that they don't have a slip on set that is specific to the Expy like they do for other models.

I broke down and bought a pair of these: https://www.amazon.com/****-11980-U...TF8&qid=1528731693&sr=8-1&keywords=****+11980

Not fancy but they get the job done. I'm still holding out hope for a replacement mirror from Ford.

That is the style of mirror I've used on my 2008 EL; they have worked quite well and I plan to use them on my 2018 Max when it gets here. Like you, I have always hoped that Ford would come out with something better but I'm not holding my breath for it :) !

Also waiting for the replacement tow mirrors from Ford. Why wouldn't these be included with the Max Tow Pkg??? Seems pretty obvious that you would need tow mirrors if you selected the Max Tow Pkg, right?

I ended just use these POS mirrors to get me by until something better is released:

I might take a look at the mirrors shane referenced...

Maybe 'cause it'd cost more money and eat into their profit? But if that's the case, why don't they offer a Max II tow package with real towing mirrors, trailer TPMS, and the multi-camera system from F250 and make it an additional $2k. It's not like people dropping $100k+ on a rig can't afford to spend $102k...

The tow mirror issue is the only thing I'm not happy about with my new 2019 Expedition.

I used a set of CIPO door-mounted mirrors (https://www.campingworld.com/deluxe-door-mount-towing-mirror-74639.html) on my Dodge Durango for seven years and over 20,000 miles of towing and they worked great. However, on my Expedition they cause a lot of vibration, rattling and wind noise on the highway. I wonder if it's because of the aluminum door panels?

I was about to order those Camco suction-cup mirrors when I noticed that they're not recommended for auto-dimming mirrors. In answer to a question about it the manufacturer replied,
"The liquid between the auto dimming mirrors, this item was cause damage to them.
By Camco on November 19, 2018"

29% of the reviewers for the CIPO's referenced by Shane gave it 1 star. Many of those said the mirrors fall off at speed.

I've ordered the Homeon Wheels mirrors (set of 2). I'm not confident they'll work but I'll post a review after I've checked them out:

UPDATE: To my surprise, the Homeon Wheels mirrors fit the Expedition pretty well. They arrived yesterday so I installed one and took it for a test drive on the highway. Some significant vibration at highway speeds but not so much that you can't see the traffic behind. They clamp onto the top rim of the mirror housing and have two straps that hook onto the bottom rim. It was only a short drive so I don't know how they'll hold up on a long trip, but there was no sign of the clamps or straps moving. I was able to avoid covering the camera and entry light on the bottom of the Expedition mirror, and mounted it so it didn't interfere with adjusting or folding the mirror. I'll post this and some more details and minor issues on Amazon in case anyone's interested.

I'm amazed how many tow big things with these people movers. I have a 3/4 ton for the heavy towing. I wouldn't want big ugly tow mirrors on mine.

It's bad for product segmentation. If they sold you a 7-8 passenger truck for $50 - 80k, they KNOW you got money (or credit) and figure they'd best leave something wanting so they can ALSO sell you a 5-6 passenger Superduty for another $50 - 100k

Going by the book, you'd be overloaded if you towed anything substantial with all 3 rows filled anyway

You'll never guess what happened to one of my mirrors! It fell off at speed. And it vibrated "but not so much that you can't see the traffic behind."

I replaced it with a pair of these and have been much happier:

I'd be careful with the strap on mirrors if this guy was telling the truth.

View attachment 32337

I have one of those, in addition to the link I posted above. The one I linked to was far superior. This one is barely usable and offers very poor visibility. The one I linked has the mirror mounted on a ball joint, which allows the mirror to be adjusted independently of the mount. This one is contrast, is locked in position. I haven't had any issues with the straps on either, but I've never them on for longer than a full consecutive 28 hours, which has been my longer trip so far.

Those are the mirrors I have been using. I also used them on my jeep commander for 5 years. I probably have an easy 15k miles with those mirrors attached. They work good enough. A little vibration but not enough to prevent seeing fine. They haven't fallen off, even bombing dirt roads in Moab. I do wish there was a nice factory slide out/fold out type mirror but these are fine for the half dozen times a year I pull the rv.
