I'm new here and enjoy reading all the info.

I recently purchased my 1999 EB 4X4 5.4 about a month ago. It has 217,000 miles on the motor and the tranny was rebuilt about 3 years ago. It runs great with no problems, but I do not know when the last time the spark plugs were changed out. It passed smog with no problems but as I said I don't know when it was done last. At the same time I am scared to death about the potential for the threads coming out with the plug and/or plug blow out.

What do you guys think?

change the plugs cold should not be a problem just make sure they are tight especially #4. I would replace the coil boots at the same time or the coils themselves if you find them cheap[keepthe old for spares].

You can replace plugs with new ford plugs , just make sure to torque them down to the right amount
