To my understanding, It's suppose to put less resistance on the motor thus producing more hp and some mpg's. I wanted to know why there is about $200 dollar difference between the two.

There is a member here named Brusky that has underdrive pulleys. It would be worth PM'ing him and seeing what he says. I do not know if he is still active but it is worth a shot.

Thanks F&P ! I do know on here from searching, that some swear by them and some hate them. I'm planning on switching to E-fans as soon as I get some overtime at work. Trying to free up some ponies and mpg.

My main concern would be that things would be spinning too slow at idle. If you spend a lot of time in congestion/traffic on your way to work or what have you, that would be something to consider.

E-fans however are a good addition. Many members here have done them with good results.

Im not sure on our motors.. But in the Jeep world all three pulleys end up spinning things too slowly for normal use. So a couple of guys will get together and buy a set. One guy will use the crank pulley, the other will use the other two. They both get some of the benefits, share the costs and alleviate some of the problems of the accessories spinning too slowly issue.

So whowey . you think that if I use one or two out of the three pulleys I can get some hp without problems?

I had these on a 5.0 mustang at one time. With the a/c on and the fan on high,At on idle. The battery would discharge.I didn't notice a gain in anything. That was also some time ago.

The freed up horsepower won't be noticeable. It is not much. And if you plan on going to an electric fan then it is going to put a huge strain on your charging system. I've had them on many mustangs, jeeps, etc etc. I never really noticed a difference in anything. When we threw my shitstang on the dyno at work there was no increase until about 4500 rpm

So it sounds like its not worth it. I do want to go with electric fan. Get rid of the bulky metal one.
