I was wondering how easy it is to update my speakers in my 2011 Max Limited. I am going to upgrade to a Nav unit and was wondering if it is easy to upgrade the sub and speakers with aftermarket ones and keep them in the same spot. I am more worried about the sub in the rear. I know door speakers can be changed out pretty easy. And it easy to change out the amp I do not even know were that is ?

Yes they are easy to do...just need to know which one is +/- and some connectors...the main thing to worry about is mounting depth...my 6.5 components are 2-3/4" deep and caused probs in the doors...so use crutchfield.com and they will show what will fit perfectly and then shop for cheaper pricing....but I highly suggest buying from them...they will give u all the instructions and hardware to make it happen...+...u get lifetime supports as long as u own the equipment

Front and rear speakers are pretty straight-forward. Take off the door panels and swap the speakers.

The subwoofer is a slightly different story. You can swap out the driver but it needs to be a Dual 2-ohm woofer. I was going to try to use one of these Rockford Punch 8" P1 when I was looking at doing basic upgrades.

The amplifier is attached the the top of the factory enclosure. I can access mine by removing the cupholders from the panel where the sub is located. If you are talented with wiring, you'll be able to change the amp out with something like this Rockford mini-amp.

Once you go with separate amplification for the subwoofer, your sub options will increase. 8s will still be the easiest, but I've cut a couple Ford enclosures (not Expedition) to fit 10s before.
