It has been two months since I purchased my 1999 4.6L Expy.
It has been in the shop more than it has been on the road.
Here are a few of the problems I have encountered:

Problem: Stiff Steering
Fix: New power steering pump, new EVO processor, new hoses
Result: Problem still there, Truck not drivable with one had between 25 and 45 MPH

Problem: Squeak emanating from rear of truck
Fix: torsion bar bushing replaced
Result: Fixed

Problem: Transmission fluid leak
Fix: Rebuilt transmission
Result: Fixed

Problem: Oil seeping from engine on passenger side
Fix: Replace all seals and gaskets
Result: No work performed as of yet. Extended warrantee will not pay (pre-existing condition). Cost will be $1600.00.

Problem: Shudder at idle
Fix: Tune-up. New spark plugs and wiring. New coils. DPFE sensor. EGR solenoid. Cleaned throttle body.
Result: Problem still there (now worse). I give up on this one.

My wife and I are going back to the dealership where we purchased the truck. I am thinking of just cutting my losses and trading it in for something other than a Ford.

In case anyone is curious as to how it went I am now the proud owner of a new Toyota Sequoia.
The dealer bought the Expy back from me and even gave me and then gave me a great deal on the new truck. It runs great!
The Expy was the third Ford that I have owned. The last one was a Taurus that lasted 7 years but was nothing but trouble from the start. I spent so much in repairs on that vehicle and I should have known better than to buy another Ford.
Let's see how this new truck treats me.

Take care everyone and good luck.
