We just purchased a 2015 navigator L so the 2008 navigator is being sold. It's been a constant battle of fixing things on the 2008 and my wife no longer trusts it to drive our family around and I honestly don't blame her. It seems like something breaks every week. One good thing is the engine and transmission are in excellent shape. The issues are just other random things.
The new navigator is a 2015 extended length with 34k miles and comes with the Lincoln certified pre-owned warranty(72 month/100k miles bumper to bumper). It was built in September of 2015 so we have a good 2.5 years/100k miles left on the certified warranty. We paid $35k for it and it's in like new condition.
The navigator comes with the high output 3.5 ecoboost that pushes 380hp/460tq. It runs on 87 octane but you won't get those numbers unless you run premium which I'm not going to do.
Comparing the old Nav to the new, the 6r80 feels like it was built for the 5.4l. It feels fine in the 3.5 but it's just so smooth with the 5.4. Acceleration is definitely up from the 5.4 but I never felt like the 5.4 was lacking power. A few things are nicer in the 2015+ but the overall quality (including the thx sound system) is about the same between the 2008 and 2015.
I didn't think of this before purchasing but is the high output 3.5 using stronger internals than the normal 3.5 or is it just pushing more power. From what I have found, it's just a software flash. Should this engine/trans last just as long even though it pushing more torque if properly cared for? I will run full synthetic oil and change every 5k regardless of what the built in oil monitor says. I don't tow.
Thank you!
