Vented catch can v. Sealed?

If the pcv system is a one way crankcase to intake manifold is it possible to just seal the intake side of the pcv and just vent the crankcase pressure to a catch can? In theory this would improve air quality into the engine correct?

Or is there more to this such that the pcv system needs vacuum pressure to relieve crankcase pressure?

Any ideas? I’m thinking of plugging my intake pcv inlet and installing the breather filter and make the system vented.

If I understand, you want to connect the PCV valve hose to the input of a catch can and leave the output of the catch can vented to the atmosphere with a breather filter on it.
I believe this is basically what the early PCV valves did until the EPA made auto manufacturers add the plumbing to direct the fumes back into the intake to burn it.
