It's only been a month, but I'm regretting not holding off and getting a susp lift and those 35's now. If you guys don't mind me asking, what did you pay for the kit? What did you pay for install if you didn't do it yourself? is it worth it?

if you want 35s save the money and do a torsion twist and get a 2 or 3" spacer and then a body lift and you''l fit 35s.
If you get a fabtech suspension lift you can still do a torsion twist and a 2 or 3" spacer and it makes it an 8" suspension lift. then you can do 37s easy. with a body lift on top of that there is a guy on here running 38.5" superswampers

for 35s you can get away with running a TC and coil spacers. rubbing will be involved. but you can do it. a body lift will help that issue. as for running 35s another way is to get a Rancho 4" lift. but then your talking a little chunk of change. but easiest way is to the TC coil spacers and BL.

I installed the Rancho 4" lift on my truck. I paid $1600 for the kit. I installed the kit myself (took 2 days, but it was my first kit, I can now do it in a day). To have a shop install the kit, you are looking at another $800 roughly. That allowed me to run 35x12.5's with no rubbing using 8" wide rims under all conditions. If you go with a wider rim, you may find that you will get rubbing when out 4x4ing and twisting the truck up. You will also need to trim the front valance to give you the final clearance you need.

I have since upgraded to 37x12.5s still on the same lift. For this I ended up getting new gears which ran me about $1500 ($700 for the gears, $800 for the install), another $1400 for the rubber, and then I ended up having to do some body modifications which only cost me like $20, but a lot of my time. I had to modify the lower front control arms, tie the back of the front fender liner out of the way, and also cut the front bumper to give me the final clearance I needed to get no rubbing.

If you are near Maryland, I would tell you to come on over and we can get this installed over a weekend. Just keep in mind that you will have to pretty much tear the entire front end suspension off of the truck to get everything installed.

I cheated... I built my last 3 lifted trucks.. when I saw this one on CL already lifted dirt cheap I bought it and did all the other mods myself.... I paid $6700 for my expy with all the lift and the tires.... just different rims.. and it only had 72K miles on it... so I thought why kill myself building one when I can cheat.. have built over 20 trucks so I knew this was one hell of a deal... since the fabtech lift is 2400+$ before installation... so was a no brainer in my mind

well..........................................you could do a slight torsion twist and a 1" spacer but ugghhhh idk why you would want to. I would personally lower yours lol

as far as the highly exclusive "lifted expy club" goes....lets just say panda's in it:rotflmao:

If you are after something that is easy, let me know. My Expy is for sale and I'm sure that would save you a lot of money in the end. I figure I have somewhere between $8-10K in the suspension department between the gears, lift, tires, and whatnot. But, I am looking at moving on to something a little bit different. he he he he he. Now the question is whether I am going with the Lotus Elise, the Jaguar XKR (possibly the XFR), or with the F-150. Decisions, decisions, decisions.

I already have the TT and rear spacer, I just want it bigger now. I understand my choice of words are impressionable but it is what it is lol. That Rancho lift that nvy has, I could not find on rancho's website. I am considering a body lift now but I don't think it would look right.

they discontinued the rancho but you can still find them sometimes on ebay. i believe thermo has the same kit. i know there is a 5" out there that another member had on his expy. suspension kits get expensive though. i think a body lift would look just fine, just make sure you order the gap guards as well (about 80 bucks). this will close up those god-awful spaces you see in the fenderwells! i hear ya on the bigger, i am going to add a BL to mine as well so i can fit some 37's, maybe stuff some 38's.

I could save you a lot of time and effort. Get a 4" lift, 37" tires, 4.56 gears already done. You can take it for $5000. has some motor work done too to help with getting through the mud and whatnot. I'll even toss in the high lift jack and recovery strap (works really good for pulling Volvo cars sideways, not that I have ever..... LMAO).

I may end up getting a BL after tax time. Would 9" wide rims be wide enough for 35x12.50's? I want it to look like a green English bulldog

LastExpo, 9" rims will work, but under heavy suspension use, you may find that you will have some rubbing, specifically at the rear of the front wheel wells. Now, there is a mod out there that a few guys have done that will allow you to tie the wheel well liner back, but how do you feel about taking a 3 pound hammer to the body of your truck? If you stop by my place, we can get it done in just over an hour. I have done it to my truck. Just takes a little bit of kahunas to grab the hammer and take that first swing. If you want more info about it, let me know.

Just buy his, save your tires, and sell your Expedition! That's a hell of a deal! Although I did buy mine for $4k... but it had nothing done to it.

i bought mine for 4K too. I am a big fan of the Built not bought mentality. I dont like taking someone else's work that they have put into their truck and make it off to me my own.... That being said if you cant find a buyer I would think about taking out the rancho lift and selling it. Just a thought
