2003 Expedition, water is pooling along the door seal. As of now, water isn’t leaking inside. But I’m concerned it may become a problem. Is this something I need to be concerned about?
Just make sure the little drains at the bottom of the doors are clear and not full of debris. Take a rag and some Simple Green and clean out the V-gasket that runs from the rear door along the roof edge and down the windshield pillar. It gets blocked with tree debri and dirt.
Had an 08 Limited that the door panel would fill with water so bad I could hear it sloshing around. Totally agree with Hamfisted in the you need to clear the little drains. Cleared mine with compressed air and the water just poured out of the bottom of the door. I'm convinced that years of most owners just missing this minor maintenance item is the reason why most Expys have rocker panel/door rot. It's a design flaw every Expy owner should keep an eye on.
2014 EL. Opened door and water started dripping at corner. Goodly amount. Water is the Enemy! Investigated a bit and found 2 weep slots under bottom weatherstripping, with plastic inserts. Jiggled the inserts and water started flowing. Pulled insert out & found wet oily goobus behind it...

the design flaw leading to rusted out rocker panels (pre aluminum years) IMHO is the large series of holes on the inside of those panels. water crud & salt gets in there via those holes and leads to rusting from the inside out. i flush those out with a hose in the spring and plug them up in the fall for winter. i also douse inside with a liberal amount of Krown and/or Fluid Film as a protectant and make sure the bottom drain holes drain freely
