It is weird and frustrating that they won’t stop in any spot.

The back of the seat material is like Velcro lol. Impossible to clean. I use a pet vacuum that works well. I also got these mats which makes cleaning much easier.

These are pretty nice, who made these? Do they stay in place pretty well? That's one of the pain points of a lot of these, they just don't stay in place very well.

Oh Boy! Here's a few, considering this is my first Ford as well.

  • Why in the world would Ford create a nice cubby in the center console with several USB ports but not have a hole anywhere to feed cables through. That means you have to leave the cubby door open all the time.
  • Rear tailgate hands-free operation still functions when liftgate is open, which is quite dangerous, leaves the glass in danger of breaking - the liftgate open should disable the hands-free operation
  • Rear bumper cover has two major issues for me, for one, it's so wide open underneath that it fills with snow in the winters, a lot of snow and ice, like gallons worth. I really wish those cavities were closed in more. Second, it seems very poorly built, that is, for a bumper on a massive SUV, when I put any kind of weight on the bumper (i.e. climbing into the back), the plastic pops, moves, makes a bunch of popping sounds like it's not fastened well to any supporting structures
  • The ridiculously flimsy undercarriage protection is mind numbing for a $70K+ vehicle. No protection for a fuel tank this big, which for an SUV is only a few inches off the ground?
  • The interior in most cases is awesome, but I'm finding tons of nooks and crannies that can fill up with dirt and kiddo food, etc. Seems like a little more thought could be put into how the plastic sections are molded to reduce dirt traps
  • The kiddo mirror in the overhead console is a nice thought but you can't see crud. Really wish it was a bit bigger, I actually do use it though. If I remember correctly, the one in the Yukons is definitely more usable

I know it seems like I'm just complaining, but I wish manufacturers would do a better job of consumer testing these things. Otherwise I so far really love this thing!

I agree with the popping bumper. It is very annoying.

Some random vendor on amazon. There are side mats as well but I don’t think I’m going to install them. They use Velcro and stick to the back of the seats and floor really well. Couldn’t stomach those ill/loose fitting canvas covers and the hard liners won’t bend with the seats

The Navi doesn't have a button for this?! Us plebes in the Fords do, right next to the temperature dial, above the heated/cooled seat buttons.
There are two ways to turn it on but there is no physical button, both of ours are on Sync screens. Honestly, it’s a non issue after the first couple times.

Nope. Have to go to the Home screen in sync to do this. While not hard, it is inconvenient. If you have something on the screen like audio or using navigation, you have to leave that, turn it on/off, then go back where you were.

You can also press the ‘menu’ button that’s part of the fan speed dial. It brings up a menu that has the switch for the heated steering wheel. It may not be as convenient as a physical button but it also is one less button to clutter the console with.

Thanks for the tip. That is a bit better.

One other thing...

Obviously, the key fob works on proximity. An auto lock would be great instead of having to push the top of the door handle, key fob, or FordPass App. My wife’s $30k Honda CR-V has this as standard.

It’s not a “big deal” but not having a hard button for the steering wheel is super annoying. Especially if you use carplay and you have to screen back to the main screen just to turn on/off the wheel.

I agree. My Yukon had a setting to turn this feature on/off. It worked great.

Like the ideal of the built-in wireless cell phone charger, but how about making that area bigger!?! My sausage fingers can barley retrieve my iPhone 6 out of it, when I’m driving forget about picking that thing up out of there...
Well they don't want you to use your phone while driving. Mine is missing the tray liner that holds the phone in place so it won't stay on the slanted platform. Make it level and forget about the 1.5 inch tray and we both could get our cubbies nubbies in there. I have not tried it but a piece of card stock with a tab could be left in the charger well and just pull the tab to lift the phone out.

You can lock the doors before unloading the back. If the fob is in your pocket, the back will open without unlocking the doors.
You can also open the back from the drivers seat, lock the doors with the door handle and walk to the back but it is 70+k make a button.

With regards to the foot lift gate deal please just put a rubber covered button that can be activated with the bump of a knee bam no proximity sensor covered with road debris works every time you want it and never when you don't.

I will preface by saying I really like my vehicle. I am not unhappy at all, despite a long list.
The ability to mix presets for AM/FM/XM
Wireless CarPlay
The ability to order the vehicle without sunroof

  1. I did not want the sun roof either it is asinine to spend so much and not be able to decline options like a hole in the roof. Totally useless in Florida where air conditioning and insulation are king.
  2. hey FORD make a rear acces I can roll the window down with a tailgate option.
  3. Offer a 9 passenger model with fold down center console.
  4. Increase head room in third row.
  5. Allow me to ditch the Ford navigation and allow easy switching to android auto. Google maps is way better. Your customers all have smart phones.
  6. Why can't I have ccd with 18 or 19 inch wheels and more cushiony tires.
I have only had my Plati for one tank full but I really like it so far.

OH, and the windshield washer sprayers are completely crap! Not sure about others here, but anytime I'm on the highway, say 70+ MPH, they spray about 50% of the windshield. Now I get it, do you make sprayers that work well at 15MPH or ones that work well at high speed, but I had no problems with this on say a 1998 Jeep GC, and my wife's 2018 RDX has no issues, it can be done. Maybe have variable pressure at the pump based on speed? Either way, seems pretty useless.

On the flipside, I love the little sprayer on the rear camera! Great job there Ford.

We have a 2016 XLT and have been underwhelmed with the quality. I had to replace the blend door motor in the back AC unit myself else that likely would have been a $500+ repair. At least one of the rear shocks is blown and was blown before we hit 50k of around town and highway driving. My 15 year old Liberty with 184k miles on it handles bumps better. I believe i have a leaking turbo fitting that will heal itself for a couple months at a time. Once every couple weeks the backup camera won't be working (picture looks scrambled).

There is a reason the standard warranty is so garbage short on these things. The quality sucks and I doubt I ever by another Ford because of it.

Why did they move the tail gate button to bottom edge of the door? My wife is not tall and the button to open/close being just inside the door is a big deal. Why did it have to even be moved?

Actually you can adjust the height of the liftgate. Open it up then pull it down to where you want it to max open to where your wife can reach it then press in the button and hold it for a few seconds until you hear the chime noise. Close the gate and next time you open it should stop at the point you set it to.
