I put in the ebay front ac control panel thingy hoping it would fix the lack of cold ac in the front only, wasn't the temperature control switch, so probably blend door issue...

I had the pleasure of spending yet more ($345) for repairs. New water pump, idler pulley and belt tension pulley. I think I figured out why my gas mileage was so poor, the idler pulley wasn't spinning and the belt was just riding on the pulley. I think the pulleys were bad when I bought it because the SOB has never sounded so quiet!!!

Took the AC compressor off so I could put the crank sensor in ( forgot to put it in when I put the front cover on.. ), put it, the power steering pump, harmonic balancer and valve covers back on. Tomorrow hopefully I can finish this project up.

It sucks doing something as major as dropping the pan and changing the timing set only having a couple hours a week ( dependent on weather ) to do it... I'm at the point now where it takes me longer to put it back together since I have to remember where everything goes!

A picture is worth a thousand words
Also helps to take notes as you take things apart
Make a check list May take a little more time to make a list.
I would bet that is a heck of a lot better than having to do the same job twice.

Removed stock running boards. Removed trim panels. Painted the frame flat black and painted the rims flat black. Definitely looks way better.

all 8 spark plugs, injector, PCV vacuum line, thermostat, 02 sensor......all to pass the stupid state emissions test.

On the plus side, my CEL is finally out (for now) and I'm hoping for a decent bump in MPG

Yesterday I put my ac compressor in and connected the rest of the hoses all I need now is to find a vac pump and gauges to test the connections

just under 75k but it seems to have been ridden hard by the PO. The CEL was for a lean code (0174 iirc), however when that was fixed, triggered a misfire from the crappy plugs....once that was fixed, an O2 CEL triggered, fixing that resorted in another code for misfire on the 1 cyl which resulted in an injector to resolve (COP's tested out fine all around and were swapped around during plug install to ensure the error following them would be trackable anyway)

The tstat was replaced while chasing down a leak at the crossover which has sealed back up.....was thinking the intake manifold may have gone but it was fine. A nice slow coolant drip I had for the past few months is sealed back up now.

sounds like it was neglected by the PO and in desperate need of some TLC and good Maintenance Keep an eye on the crossover

if you happen to need to remove the intake. go ahead and replace the metal hose below it. you don't want to remove that intake a second time...

I replaced the upper control arms, lower control arms, and end links on the front end today. It needs an alignment now, but the difference in ride quality is night and day. It is soooo smooth over any road irregularity it rides like new (as it should!). I still need to get the new tie rod ends put on, but I could not for the life of me get the old ones off. I might just have to pay someone to do it!

Tried to drive it some. Did drive around the block but my drivers side rear brake caliper is messed up. Thought my parking brake was having issues as it was locking up trying to reverse but when I drove it, was noisy and can feel the brake pedal vibrate. :(

So brakes and valve train needs attention. Need some time and decent weather to deal with it.

Just changed the plugs. I'm very happy none broke, although I'm keeping the lisle tool.

ac compressor removed and tightened the manifold bolt then replaced it on the motor. rented the vacuum pump and gauges and have it under about -25 hg (as low as the pump could pull it seems) will let it sit overnight and if it holds I will charge it. I did also find a leak. someone lost an o ring on the lower hose on the condenser I haven't touched that hose up to but lucky my aunt abandoned a car here not too long ago so I made use of an o ring from her car.

fingers crossed for cold ac tomorrow :chillpill:
